GADFAS 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION LUNCH

WRITE UP BY JENNY BOYD

How shall we celebrate 30 action packed years?  That must have been the question that our committee asked themselves when planning to mark this important milestone.  The idea of the lunch was welcomed with enthusiasm as we are a friendly and inclusive society and like to socialise.

Goring Village Hall looked festive and the table settings were very attractive in the NADFAS colours of blue and white.  A delicious buffet lunch was provided, accompanied by excellent wines and the hall buzzed with lively chatter.  June Robinson, NADFAS National Chairman, was our guest of honour and Pam Elder was welcomed as our Wyvern Area Chairman.  Of the 112 who sat down to lunch there were a few founder members and a number of former chairmen.

Lunch was followed by a musical presentation by singer and lecturer Peter Medhurst and accompanied by pianist Jeremy Limb. Their programme, entitled 'The Lure of Italy', drew us into the world of artistic inspiration that Italy has offered over the centuries.  Both performers gave us spirited, accomplished and very enjoyable performances.

GADFAS, under Monica Weston's leadership, was founded in 1986, and since then much has been achieved.  We have been informed, educated and entertained.  New interests have been kindled, friendships made and a great deal of pleasure and enlightenment has been provided for members during that time. The programme of lectures and events has been exciting and thirty years on we have much to celebrate.

We would all like to thank Diana and her committee for an excellent and very enjoyable afternoon staged in true GADFAS style.
